About Us

Our mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families. Our programs bring them fun, joy and laughter when they need it most… because happiness matters.

About the Role

Captain Starlight is a superhero from Planet Starlight who spreads joy, creativity, and laughter to children in hospitals, clinics, and remote communities across Australia. As a Captain Starlight, you will be part of a vibrant and talented team that brings moments of light to kids during some of their most challenging times, creating positive, lasting impacts on their healthcare journey.

As Captain Starlight, you will:

  • Make a real and positive difference to the lives of others.
  • Become the best performer you can be - we offer performance workshops with renowned industry professionals and the opportunity to participate in a week of Learning and Development in another Starlight Express Room of your choice.
  • Be part of an incredible, diverse team of over 160 talented actors and performers, each with their own networks.
  • Join the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children (CHWC) team!

We’re currently looking for casual team members to join our CHWC team! This program operates on Monday, Wednesdays and Thursdays, so we’re seeking people who are available to work on these days.

About you

  • You have a performance‑focused qualification (Bachelor degree or higher in acting, singing, dance, or similar); or 5+ years of proven professional performance experience across a mix of styles
  • You’re a master of quick-thinking, reading a room and delivering exceptional experiences in a safe, imaginative, and entertaining way.
  • You’re authentic, playful, and love collaborating with others to create memorable moments.

The Captain Starlight character is an extension of you – they are positive, warm, bright, ego-free and have a healthy dose of naivety (being an intergalactic visitor).
